It’s almost done!!!

Things are wrapping up and we anticipate having possession of the building by mid December.

We will take a few weeks after that to move in and get the classrooms ready and plan to start using them when classes resume in January.

Join us on January 8th at the end of the service when we will have a special ribbon cutting ceremony as the kids get to their rooms for the first time.

It has been a long time getting to this point and we are very excited to be this close!

Thank you all for your support both financially and in prayer over these long months!

Building Update May 2011

The Building Committee has been working on final revisions of the building plans in order to live within our budget and monthly budgeted loan payments.  It has been a challenge to provide for the ministry needs and at the same time be good stewards of the generous contributions of those who call Lake Community their church home.

We have chosen Innovative Builders as the General Contractor for the project.  We still hope to break ground by June 1st.  Please pray for God’s blessing on this endeavor as we seek to serve His Kingdom and minister to the church body.

Building Update 4/11

We are almost ready to dig the hole and start construction on our new Education Wing!

This is very fun and exciting for our church.  But before we start, we want to ask one more time – would you consider uniting together to help pay off this project faster?  In April Pastor Ron will explain what we plan to build and how you can help.

Our church members voted in December 2009 to build.  We chose the Christian Education portion of the overall master plan that included a new sanctuary, offices, kitchen, foyer, bathrooms and parking.  The entire project is ambitious and not something we can do all at once.  It was clear that the education wing and nursery portion addressed our most pressing needs and fit into our current budget.

We conducted a Capital Campaign last spring and received a generous commitment of $530,000 from just 91 families (of the 180+ that attend LCC) to be given over 3 years beginning last July.  Already $143,000 of that money has come in and that is ahead of schedule.  We secured financing from Glenwood State Bank for a loan up to $975,000.  However we are committed to being very careful to stay within our budget.  A large mortgage payment would prevent us from doing other ministry.

After some prayerful, sleepless nights by our Building Committee, PLT, Finance Team, and staff we are proposing the following:  finish only the classrooms, nursery and gathering space.  Rough in the office area (will be useable for classrooms) and kitchen.  This should only cost $1,000,000 which gives us the mission critical pieces to allow our church to continue to grow by ministering to young families.  We want to pay this loan off as fast as possible and also hope to finish the kitchen soon.

Before we start construction we are coming back to the congregation to seek 100% participation in this endeavor.  Would you prayerfully consider joining in?  We are asking everyone to participate.  It isn’t about an amount of money, it’s about an expression of unity, doing this all together to the glory of God.  Could we get 100% participation?  This would be so encouraging certainly to me but also to everyone else in the church to see that we are all together.  If you have not previously completed a commitment card, would you please do so this month, and say to us “I am in this with the rest of LCC”.  No one is asking you to give more than you are able, we are asking you to give what you can and in so doing say – “I love my church and I want to help”.  Everyone can do that, everyone should do that.  Please fill out a card and indciate the amount of money you can give over the next two years (that is in addition to your general fund giving).

For those of you who did participate last year – Thank you!  You did so with much generosity.  I would not ask for more, but if you can, and you want to do more, God bless you.  There are many that are new to our church in this last year and they have never been asked to join in the capital campaign.  If that is you, please join us in this exciting project.

March 2011 Building Update

Here is a quick update of where we are with the building addition project:

  • Bids for construction have been submitted and are in the process of being reviewed
  • General Contractor will be selected within the next two weeks
  • After that we will begin the process of evaluating all costs and trying to make decisions about what we can do to lower the costs of construction

We are still hoping to break ground this spring or early summer.

October Lake-Over Update

Hello LCC Family!

Our Conditional Use Permit is now officially approved and the building permit will be submitted in January. Praise the Lord!

Vanman Architects have been working hard and will be meeting with some members of the building committee this week to go over the completed building plans. This is to be confirmed by the end of October.

We then will be able to start the bidding process, which is a couple months ahead of schedule.

The new parking lot layout has been designed and approved by the city planning commission and we are very excited how the layout has taken shape.

The Electrical and Mechanical drawings have been drafted and are going to have the final approval agreed upon at our next building committee meeting in early November.

We are blessed by the money received from the capital campaign. Thank you church family!  We feel God has been instrumental in this process and continues to bless this project that is so near and dear to the families at LCC and the community. PRAISE GOD!

Blessings,

Jessi Schabel, Building Committee member

EXTREME LAKE OVER PROGRESS!

Hello LCCers,

We are excited to announce that after the Capital Campaign our congregation voted to go ahead with the building expansion.  The new Building Committee has been formed, has met a few times and things are underway!

The Building Committee members are:  DuWayne Paul (Co-Chairman), Dean Peterson (Co-Chairman and General Contractor), Ron Berget, Larry Bruzek, Randy Eggen, Becky Galligan, Michelle Saffel, and Jessi Schabel.

We have a lot of things to get lined up over the winter so that we are ready to break ground in the Spring of 2011.

So far we have had the soil borings done, hired a Civil Engineer, and submitted the permit request to the city.

The building committee, staff and subcommittees are working with the architects on all of the details for the building plans.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please contact any one of the building committee members.
