Sunday Night Worship is Here!

Young people and families are ‘checking out of church’ at faster rates than ever before.  Various barriers have kept many away from experiencing real community amongst Christians, or many are simply tired of the traditional forms and structures, wanting more personal relationships they can count on.  A few of us from Lake Community Church’s Acts 1:8 local mission, and Epic Student Ministry, are hoping to reach this 16-35 age demographic, communicating a biblical and clear message of doing church in a different way, to reach these disenfranchised, non-traditionalists.

Epic Sunday Nights will be LCC”s ‘satellite service’ hosted at Alexandria Technical Community College, 6:30pm-7:30pm starting Aug 29.  Gathering around drinks and snacks at cafe tables, people will be encouraged to encounter God through the Gospel and His Word.  We’ll share together the ups and downs of following Jesus, and be encouraged to care for one another during the week.  Our student focus at Jefferson Senior High and Alex Tech Community College, will give us opportunities to see many young people raised up as the core of God’s mission to a lost world.  Our goal is to see people welcomed into real relationships, growing as Jesus’ disciples together.

For a more detailed look behind the philosophy of this new ministry, please read Pastor Jeff’s blog titled ‘recommunity’ here.  If you’d like to discuss Epic Sunday Nights with Jeff and his core team from LCC, please email him at jeff@lakecommunity.org

Above all, pray for these Sunday nights beginning August 29th at ATCC.  Pray for many young people and families to be encouraged and challenged by Gods Word, and loved in real relationships!

  • Drop off your items August 15th through August 19th at noon

And we can always use more help with set up during that week, workers on Saturday, and clean up when its all over.

Contact Melody at the church with any questions.

Annual Meeting

The annual congregational meeting was held on June 27th with a short business meeting and a vote on four ballot measures.

All four passed with the following results:

Budget                                  102 yes / 2 no = 98%

Proceed w/Building         90 yes / 14 no = 87%

Edgar Timberlake            104 yes / 0 no = 100%

John Johnson                  100 yes / 2 no / 2 NA = 96%

Since the members voted in favor of proceeding with the building expansion, we have formed a building committee that will work with VanMan Architects as we moved forward.

Members of the new Building Committee are:  Co-Chairs – DuWayne Paul and Dean Peterson.  Other members:  Ron Berget, Larry Bruzek, Randy Eggen, Becky Galligan, Michelle Saffel, and Jessie Schabel.

If you have any questions regarding the building plans, please contact anyone of the Building Committee members.

$380,000 Given To Christian Education Expansion

The vision to build a Christian education wing is one HUGE step closer to reality!  Last Sunday over $380,000 was pledged by 41 individuals and families from the leadership of Lake Community- an amazing testimony to the commitment our church family has to giving generous amounts of dollars to making disciples of future generations.  So how can you get in on the fun?  Send in your 3-yr pledge, and help us reach our $650,000 goal by Sunday, May 16th, Missions Sunday.  It’s time to celebrate Him, and His mighty plans to come through LCC!
